Global climate change is having a very drastic effect in Turkana. Periodically, the area is hit by massive droughts that threaten people and livestock. Although we have created irrigated gardens as a long-term hunger relief effort, almost every year we also provide tons of emergency aid to save lives. Food is partly co-financed by aid organizations. We distribute corn, beans and fat with the help of the communities. But the aid also benefits those in need beyond the communities. When possible, we take advantage of such opportunities to encourage and spiritually feed people through God’s Word during the distribution drive.
